Strategic Partnership for Organisation in Tunis of the ABEF 2019
he Tunisian-British Chamber of Commerce (TBCC) and the Africa Blue Economy Forum (ABEF) signed, on Wednesday, a strategic partnership for the organisation of the 2nd edition of Africa Blue Economy Forum (ABEF) which will take place in Tunis on june 25 and 26, 2019.
ABEF 2019, in collaboration with the TBCC, will bring together government officials as well as experts, investors, companies, politicians, international organisations, civil society, public institutions and other opinion leaders in Tunisia, according to a TBCC statement issued on Wednesday.
Participants will discuss and debate emerging sectors related to the blue economy, as well as important social considerations, such as gender mainstreaming, food and water security, poverty reduction, wealth conservation and job creation, according to the same source.
Mehdi Ben Abdallah, President of the TBCC, said the Chamber is proud of this partnership which “will enable us to better identify important investment opportunities in the blue economy through the organisation of this event”.
For the official, “Tunisia can be one of the African leaders who can meet the challenges of sustainable development and make it an important creator of economic added value, and therefore of jobs”.
Leila Ben Hassen, Founder and President of the ABEF, stressed the importance of working with the TBCC.
“This agreement will enable us to work together to promote economic growth for current and future generations while protecting the diversity and intrinsic value of marine ecosystems.
The first edition of this forum was held in London on June 8, 2018, and identified major opportunities emerging from Africa’s marine and aquatic spaces.
The African continent must work together at regional and national level to work towards a sustainable maritime governance system that will benefit the entire continent.
